Spearhead of the Label of DJ Rupture SOOT Record, Filastine destroys genres by designing a new sound map between hip hop and electronica sprinkled with oriental sonorities. Filastine is better-known as one of the founding members of the Infernal Noise Brigade, battucada performing during anti-G8 demonstrations and offering a cacophony of tribal percussions. It came after ¡TchKunG ! that already paved the way for musical anti-globalisme through the label Post-World Industries.
Filastine dissolves cultures and mixes genres, he rubs his machines and his complex beats of percutionnist master, with a diversity of languages (French, Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese...) and sounds. Violins venture into new modes, machines, zokras thread their ways between breaks, and during the interludes, an omnipresent american translation evokes, like one of the tracks, the Crescent Occupation of globalized culture.
In the uneven geography of Burn It, arabesques stay in mind, particularly those from Splinter Faction Delight and Autology, enameling with arrhythmic fragments the arabesques of the voice of Jessika Skeletalia aka Jessica Kenney, vocalist with an impressive repertoire. Among feminine voices of the album, we have the great surprise to discover further the golden flow of Mc Subzero Permafrost, conscientiously shredded in Boca de Ouro and scoffing at the off-beats rhythm, without losing one gramme of composure. The result is quite suprising in terms of uprooted sounds and in the way he takes over the ghettos' sounds and those from electronica. Or how to recycle the Arte dei rumori at the age of the Iraq War.
On stage, Filastine crushes and remixes live his own pieces. He adds percussions, and enjoys himself too remote controlling the loudspeakers thanks to a FM transmitter, and he regularly invites a singer or a MC to come on stage. With his mobile equipment – sometimes in a caddie -, he moves into Clubs, squats, festivals and other underground places, from Buenos Aires to Reyjkavik, Osaka London or Barcelona.
« Filastine is the perfect opposite of a philistine, he has a lot of puff, and culture, and he uses it to make creative diversions of senses and values. » (translated from Benjamin Illos)
