Since his integration in Jarring Effects booking catalogue in 2009 and his appearance during 11th Riddim Collision festival, expectations were logically high concerning our impetuous MC. Tireless globe-trotter, comfortable with both a microphone and a production desk, Jacques Bruna, aka Bleubird, took profit of several stays in between Florida, Montreal or Berlin to build up some sky-high hip-hop tracks, which we are extremely delighted to present today. Our man comes
back on next 14th of February, armed with a deadly digital EP, specially backed by Lyon producers Uzul, Led Piperz, R;Zatz and Grosso Gadgetto. Out of this are 4 striking and homogenous tracks coming, where Bleubird sends new evidences of his breath-taking potential, leaving both hip-hop amateurs and experts stunned.
And what a way to start ! «Be Brave», produced by Led Piperz (video artist of High Tone), is a true bulldozer combining UK Bass Music, as supported by our colleagues and neighbours of Airflex Labs, to an uncompromising vocal machine-gunning.
On «Treasures», Uzul’s excellent wobbles are irting with the Canadian’s devastating ow, once haunting then sharp and biting, delivering a dark and textured hip-hop, which reminds us of some work by our fellows from Switzerland Reverse Engineering.
Third track, «Hands Free», is signed by R;Zatz when it comes to arrangements and background vocals. We can henceforth recognize her singular mark, welcoming the rapper’s lyrics into a cosy cocoon made of trip-hop sounds and old-school keyboards layers. Finally, the EP ends with a highly-strung track, named «Goulag» (we understand how legitimate the title is after listening to it). This last piece of work confronts insistent guitars and industrial rhythms made in Gonzalezeum (Grosso Gadgetto’s machinist) to Bleubird’s moving and unadorned story.
So, test achieved for our stateless man, who once again offers an atypical and explosive EP, continuing the path of his former works. For our own good, he will support his new release live in France and beyond, from upcoming February 15 to March 14.
